Title I, Part A is the largest federally funded program for our nation’s schools and provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is currently used to measure poverty for Title I purposes. Title I, Part A funds are used to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
Title I funds are used in a variety of ways based on the schools' individual needs and may include:
- Additional teachers, TA’s or tutors
- Professional development
- Learning materials and resources
- Various technology
- Parent & family events and resources to use at home
