BETTER HUMANS

BETTER HUMANS

At Shelby Intermediate, one of the sayings we have is "Make your own weather." As the CoronApocalypse has forced us out of our comfort zones, I am taking comfort from the positive changes that have come out of this so far.

Businesses have proactively offered help with mortgages, loans, power, etc. The free trial periods have allowed me to explore, learn, share, talk with colleagues, explore more, and learn more. While bumpy now, the learning and tools I will have added for the future are mind-blowing. People have helped each other by checking on neighbors and following the rules. Social distancing is not fun, but it seems to be working in Cleveland County.

The part of all of this that has touched my heart is the chance I have to get to know my students in new ways. Every morning I post a short "Hello, today" video. I post throughout the day as questions and comments come in on Remind and Google Classroom. What made my day and made me want to try even harder and do even more is the email blowup that happened today. My video this morning didn't post correctly, and I had 46 email requests to view the video. I only have 43 students. Parents have been 100% amazingly supportive, thankful, and encouraging. I think education is taking a great turn!!
