In partnership with the Dover Foundation, the CCS Educational Foundation awarded PALS (Partners Aligned for Literacy Success) grants to educators for items or projects closely aligning with the PALS program.

Already familiar with the PALS program, educators submitted requests asking for long lists of books, music books, chapter books, and projects like take-home book bags filled with books, a KinderPALS Pet Celebration, and Life Cycle Literacy.

“This is the first time we have been able to offer a literacy-based grant program to educators,” said Jamey Davis, president of the CCS Educational Foundation. The grant opportunity was very well received and highly competitive. I fully anticipate us offering this grant opportunity again soon, likely near the end of the current school year or during the summer.”

The inaugural PALS Grant recipients include:

  • Kamie Champion, Cleveland Early College
  • Kenny Collins, Crest High
  • Brandi Edwards, Union Elementary
  • Darlene Hamrick, Boiling Springs Elementary
  • Lee Howell, Bethware Elementary
  • Page Ozmore, Bethware Elementary
  • Emily Parker & Kristen Bird, Union Elementary
  • Ashley Singleton, East Elementary
  • Julie Turner, North Elementary
  • Casey Whisnant, Boiling Springs Elementary
  • Lauren Williams, Kings Mountain Intermediate

Congratulations to this year’s PALS Grant recipients. As Mr. Davis mentioned, look for another round of grants to be made available to educators soon.
