Cleveland County's best and brightest seniors converged at The LeGrand Center to be honored and rewarded for academic excellence. Awarded for their academic achievement of a 4.0 GPA (Grade Point Average) or higher and placing in the top twenty percent of their cohort at their school, each senior was granted $500 for post-secondary tuition purposes.

Nearly 160 seniors were recognized individually by the Cleveland County Schools Educational Foundation among nearly 900 in attendance at the coveted Senior Scholars Banquet.

Those recognized at this annual event exemplify education greatness and are so very deserving for their academic excellence," said Greg Shull, director of communications for Cleveland County Schools. “We are proud of our students for their accomplishments and thankful for our community's support in making sure the students are rewarded for their hard work."

The only of its kind, the banquet honored students from the county’s high schools as parents, donors, presenters, and educators gathered to formally congratulate the best of the best.

Scholarship money presented was generated by the Turner Trucking Co. Academic Awards Golf TURNERment sponsored by the Foundation last October at the River Bend YMCA Golf Club. Many of the tournament’s Benefactors and Patron Sponsors attended the banquet and presented scholarships to the senior recipients.
