Cheerleader tryouts for the football AND basketball cheerleading squads will be held Tuesday, May 14th through Thursday, May 16th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the main gym.
Pre-tryout Requirements:
~ Students MUST HAVE a current physical on file that has been approved by our Athletic Trainer.
-- Physicals are good for ONE year.
-- Physical examinations will be offered at Kings Mountain High School April 24th at 4 p.m. - $10 per student-athlete.
-- If a student-athlete plans to get a physical from a personal doctor, the official KMHS form must be used and filled-out by the physician. See Coach Ridenoure for a form.
~ Students must sign-up (in order for us to check physical information and for teacher evaluations) by May 3rd.
~ The Sign-up sheet will be available outside Ms. Nichols’ (Room 118) and Ms. Scott’s door (2200 Freshman Academy).
~ Eighth graders need to sign-up in the front office of the middle school.
~ When signing-up, PLEASE pick up a Teacher Evaluation forms. You must have a form for EACH of your teachers THIS CURRENT year/semester.
~ If you still owe money from this past year, you will not be allowed to tryout.
-- All monies owed must be paid ON or BEFORE May 6th in order to tryout.
Try-out Adjudication:
~ Students will be judged on the following criteria: 1) Football Test and/or Basketball Test, 2) Cheer, 3) Chant, 4) Dance, 5) Jumps, 6) Gymnastics (optional), 7) Spirit, 8) Appearance, and 9) Teacher Evaluations.
What to wear:
~ Students should wear comfortable shorts and t-shirt and tennis shoes with great support.
~ Students should have hair pulled out of their face.
~ VERY IMPORTANT!!! For the actual tryout portion of the day, students should wear a SOLID WHITE t-shirt with absolutely NO writing, black or dark- colored shorts, and tennis shoes. Please look neat and clean! J Wearing ribbon in your hair is optional. This allows your skills/talents to shine and NOT your outfit!

Those trying-out should familiarize yourself with both the football and basketball terminologies as it will be tested FIRST.
A parent meeting will be held May 7th at 6 p.m. in the KMHS Cafeteria. It is imperative that your parent(s) attend this meeting. Important information about summer camp, fundraisers, costs will be discussed during the meeting. Please make plans to attend as it should only last 30 minutes.

Cheer Camp is MANDATORY. If you cannot attend, you will not be able to cheer with us this year.
