Prerequisite: Honors English III ­

DESCRIPTION:  A course equivalent to college requirements.  Emphasis is on self-directed learning based on advanced reading and writing skills. A focused effort is centered on developing versatility and control in writing. Summer reading is required while taking Honors English IV Pre AP.  NOTE: All courses should challenge students and incorporate opportunities for independent critical thinking; an Honors English course can be distinguished from a Standard English course by the consistency with which the characteristics described in the course descriptions are evident.   NOTE: Students who receive acceptable scores on examinations given by Educational Testing Service receive college credit and advanced place­ment at most colleges and universi­ties.
