Schools will close toay at 10:30.  All athletic practices will be cancelled.   

On Tuesday, January 29th, SMS will host a parent information night for all college bound athletes.  Presenters Lance Ware and Teresa Heffelfinger will discuss important information for parents of students who plan to compete at the collegiate level.  The session will be held in the cafeteria immediately following the Shelby/Crest  games.  We look forward to seeing you there. 

Report cards will go home on January 31st.  Please be watching for them! 

We also want to recognize the SMS Robotics team for their recent performance at the state competition.  There are over 590 robotics teams in the state of North Carolina, but only 60 teams qualify for state.  SMS was fortunate to have two teams to qualify.  This rarely happens, but the Elder Dragons and Night Owls, as well as Coach Hoehn, are strong forces and have made a mark on the robotics world.  Next year, we hope to advance to a new level of competition for these teams.  More details will come shortly.
