End of Year Ceremonies: Shelby High has several year end ceremonies to celebrate your student’s academic success and hard work. We would like to invite you to join us at Malcolm Brown Auditorium to honor your student’s achievements and the graduating class of 2012. Relay for Life is asking everyone to wear a specific color each day for cancer awareness the week of 5/14-5/18. Monday is Hodgkin's awareness so wear violet, Tuesday Breast Cancer awareness wear pink, Wednesday childhood cancer awareness wear gold, Thursday Leukemia awareness wear orange, and on Friday we will honor all cancer survivors by wearing lavender [2012.05.11].

Ladies' Soccer: Congratulations to the Lady Golden Lions on their victory over Owen in 2A Soccer playoffs on Wednesday. The Ladies won 2-0 with goals scored by Sadie Lovelace and Chase Thompson. Chase provided the assist for Sadie's goal and Chase kicked in her goal off of a shot that was rebound by a defender. The ladies will now face the winner of the South Iredell - Polk County match-up being played tonight. More details will be announced tomorrow [2012.05.16].

Men's Tennis: The Men's Tennis team were victorious over Owen, 6-0. Ray Webb Parker, Dennis Beam, Will Lutz, Miles Poage, Joseph Hendrick and Alex Tillman all won in singles competition. Next up for the men is the State Championship on Saturday in Burlington. Best of luck to our Golden Lions, we are so proud of you all [2012.05.16].

Teaching Fellows Scholarship will be reinstated for THIS CURRENT YEAR - in late June. The General Assembly may appropriate the funds for this scholarship for CURRENT SENIORS who are interested in Teaching as a Career who plan to enter a 4 year college this fall and pursue a teaching degree. This scholarship is very competitive and is offered for 4 years - it is repaid by teaching in the state of North Carolina. If you are interested in being contacted should the scholarship be reinstated, please leave your contact information and the name of the college you plan to attend with Mrs. Murray in guidance by May 18 [2012.05.16].

Golf: After two days of competition, the SHS Golf team finished fourth in the state 2A golf Championship. Leading the pack for Shelby was Preston Almond with a 79 on Monday and 77 on Tuesday. Cody Dellinger finished at 77 and 82, followed by Luke Hayek with 83 and 81 and Alex Anderson with 81 and 86 [2012.05.15].

Men's Tennis: Congratulations to the Shelby High Men's tennis team on their win Tuesday against Polk County, 5-1. Winners in singles competition were Ray Webb Parker, Dennis Beam, Will Lutz, Miles Poage and Joseph Hendrick. The men advance to the next round of playoffs and will face Owen on Wednesday at Owen beginning at 4:00 pm. Best of luck to the men on their match tomorrow [2012.05.15].

Camper Scamper: On May 19th Shelby High School will be hosting the 2nd Annual Camper Scamper 5K run/walk to benefit Camp Safe Haven Camp Safe Haven is a camp designed especially for students living with HIV or AIDS. Our goal is to get 200 participants to walk or run on Saturday, May 19 in order to sponsor at least two students from North Carolina to attend the camp. This is a great opportunity for our community and students to help. The participation forms are available online or can be picked up in the main office or from one of the following students: Marlyn Thompson, Manning Burton, Megan Nanney, or Shem Blackley. Please complete the form and turn in the registration fee before May 12th [2012.05.08].

After School Tutoring: After school tutoring will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will run a 4:00 bus. This is offered to all students, but in order to ride the bus, you must be in tutoring from 3:10-4:00. You cannot leave, and you must have a bus pass from your teacher in order to ride the bus [2012.01.06].
