Garrion Addison Commits to GWU: Congratulations to Shelby High Senior and linebacker #9 Garrion Addison on commiting to Garder-Webb University. Garrion has started for the Golden Lions for the past four seasons and played a huge role on defense during the Golden Lions' back to back state championships. Garrion had 98 total tackles with 36 stops for lost yardage this past season and earned all-county and all-conference recognition. Basketball: The Lady Golden Lions defeated Cavaliers on Friday night, 50-47. Tamerika Natt lead the ladies with 19 points while Kori West had 13 points. The Varsity Golden Lions lost to East Rutherford, 92-82. Patrick Little had 30 points, Quay Kimble had 24 points and RJ George had 8 points. The Golden Lions host the Bulldogs from Burns High School on Tuesday evening [2015.01.30].
Indoor Track: The Shelby High track teams competed in the Western North Carolina Indoor Track Championships on Wednesday held at Polk County High School. The men's team finished 3rd overall. In individual events - 1600 Meters: 2-Justin Tucker; 3200 Meters: 1-Blanton Gillespie, 2-Justin Tucker; Long Jump: 1-Steven Proctor; Triple Jump: 1-Steven Proctor. The ladies finished 7th overall. In individual events - 300 Meters: 1-Tshimnga Odom; 55 Meters: 2-Tshimnga Odom [2015.01.30].
2015 Ladies' Soccer Schedule: The 2015 Shelby High School Ladies' Soccer schedule has been posted to the website [2015.01.27].
Swim and Dive: The Shelby High Swim and Dive Teams competed in the SMAC Swin Championship Friday night at the Valdese Aquatic Center. The men finished first overall taking the SMAC championship and out paced second place by 156 more points. Individual event results for the men: 220 Yard Medley: 1, Shelby (Parker Campbell, Davis Kennedy, Ben Waldrep, Matt Campbell); 200 freestyle – 1, Parker Campbell 2, Keith Chung 3, Mikey Beaver; 200 Individual Medley – 1, Ben Waldrep 3, Jay Wilson; 50 freestyle – 1, Matt Campbell; 1-meter diving – 1, Tyler Cowan 2, Tripp Schenck 3, Michael Seen 4, Wilson McNeary; 100 fly – 1, Davis Kennedy 3, Keith Chung; 100 freestyle – 1, Matt Campbell; 500 freestyle – 2, Mikey Beaver; 200 free relay – 1, Shelby (Ben Waldrep, Keith Chung, Jay Wilson, Davis Kennedy); 100 backstroke – 1, Parker Campbell 2, Davis Kennedy; 100 breastroke – 1, Ben Waldrop 2, Jay Wilson; 400 free relay – 1, Shelby (Matt Campbell, Jay Wilson, Keith Chung, Parker Campbell). For the ladies, they finished third.
