AR Program Changes

Effective January 21, 2010

Student goals will be aligned with the Renaissance Learning Accelerated Reader Goal Setting Chart.  Which means some student’s point goals will change.

Students will be asked to take notes while reading non-fiction books.  Notes on non-fiction books may be used when taking AR tests.

Students will be asked the following question before AR testing:  Was this book read to you, did someone read this book with you, or did you read it on your own?  This will help teachers monitor each student’s amount of independent reading.

Students will be allowed to read any book regardless of the reading level.  Students will need to keep track of their average reading level and keep the average within their ZPD range.  Teachers and Media Center staff will help to monitor student choices to ensure that a student’s average stays within their ZPD and that they will experience success with Accelerated Reader.
