*National Arts Honor Society: 

 The next meeting will be on Thursday 3-11-10

 Signed forms for field trip will be Due, if you need a form please ask Mrs. Blackwood or Mrs. Bingham.

 

*The next prom committee meeting is next Wednesday, March 17.  All members are expected to attend as well as waiters and waitresses.  We will meet in Mrs. Greenlee's room immediately after school.

 

*Announcement to students:  Relay for life will be selling snow cones throughout the next few weeks to benefit cancer victims and survivors and to help find a cure for cancer. 

 

*ATTENTION GIRLS!  Hey girls, we need to have a GIRL TALK!  Let’s hang out and talk about the issues that are important to us.  We will meet in Ms. Scott’s room (Freshman Academy Room 2200) Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 3:30-4:15.  Hope to see you there!

 

*Finalists for the 2010 yearbook staff are now posted by the front office and outside room 2113.  Finalists MUST sign up for an interview time on the sign-up sheet outside room 2113.  Interviews will be held from Tuesday, March 9 through Thursday, March 11 after school.

 

*We would like to start a fundraiser collecting money for our soldiers overseas.  The money will be used to buy items the soldiers need and to pay for the packaging.  Last year Elizabeth collected items and money for the soldiers and it was very successful.  The students at KMHS donated enough items and money to put together about 40 packages and just under $400.00 that was used to buy the boxes for packaging.  Elizabeth wrote a letter for each soldiers' box thanking them for what they do and letting them know everything was donated by KMHS student body.  A lot of them wrote back and thanked us for our support and telling Elizabeth how much things like that really mean a lot to them. 

 

*Have a talent that you're dying to share with the community! Then come audition for a talent show! Auditions will be held on March 22 beginning at 3:30PM. See Hunter Summitt to sign up for an audition time and to recieve the necessary requirements. This talent show is for Hunter Summit's senior project.

 

*There will be an FFA meeting on Wednesday March 10 at 3:30 pm in Mr. Mayes mobile unit, V-3.  The meeting will last about 30 minutes.  Refreshments will be served.  Upcoming FFA events will be discussed.

 

*Anime Club will be meeting on Wednesday this week as usual.

 

*RENAISSANCE:  Pizza Hut winners for the week of March 8th are: Kanaan Greene, Andrew Harris, Jada Henson, Katherene Holmes, Joshua Fernandez and Clyde Kerns!  Their coupons will be in one of their classes this week!

 

*RENAISSANCE:  Pizza party for students who sold at least 6 BBQ plates for Renaissance will be this Tuesday in the Cafe', March 9th! 

 

*Tuesday, March 9th make plans to attend the Renaissance Club meeting right after school in Mr. Potter's M-6!

 

*Are you interested in exploring a career in teaching by Peer Tutoring with the Exceptional Children classes?  Students will tutor peers in academics and teach learning strategies.  If you are interested, please see your guidance counselor or Jerri Tate to get an application.

 

*FBLA:  Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 9th in the cafeteria.  We need all members present to sign up for a time slot during lunch for our March of Dimes project.  For those of you who have not participated lately, this is your chance. 

 

*Any rising 11th or 12th grader that is interested in registering for PEPI next year will need to get an application outside of Coach Butler's office on the PE hall.  Please complete application and turn in to Coach Butler by Thursday, April 1st.

 

*Communities In Schools is currently taking applications for volunteers to participate in our Teen Court program. Volunteer opportunities include jury member, attorneys, and clerk of courts. For more information please contact Laura Mitchell at Communities In Schools at 704-480-5570. Applications can be picked up in the main office.

 

*RENAISSANCE:  As promised, those of you who sold at least 6 BBQ plates during the fundraiser for Renaissance will receive a pizza party in the Cafe', Tuesday, March 9th during your lunch.  A list of those students who sold at least 6 plates can be found in the Renaissance link on the KMHS Webpage!  Check it often so that you don't miss out on any incentive!  See you Tuesday, March 9th!

 

*Junior and Senior girls:  Check out the bulletin board outside the office for examples of unacceptable prom dresses.  Please dress appropriately for this special night.

 

*Calling all future teachers!  Are you interested in finding out more about the teaching profession?  Do you have a passion for helping others?  Then Cleveland Community College's Foundations of Education Program may just be for you! Stop by Mrs. Bell's office to receive further information and an application!  "To teach is to touch a life forever..."

 

*Auditions for Symphonic Chorale for the 2010-2011 school year will take place on March 8-10 from 3:30 to 5:00 in the Chorus room. Come by to sign up for an audition time slot. Any student who is interested in furthering their musical knowledge by singing high quality choral repertoire needs to audition. You must meet ALL audition requirements plus turn in a completed application form in order to be considered for a spot. See Mrs. Fulton before signing up for an audition time.

 

*Auditions for Kings Revue for the 2010-2011 school year will be held on March 11 and 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 in the Chorus room. Any student who is interested in singing pop, broadway, and popular music which incorporates choreography should audition. Students should be strong solo singers and have a desire to perform for the school and throughout the community. You must meet all audition requirement plus turn in a completed application form in order to be considered for a spot. See Mrs. Fulton before signing up for an audition time.

 

*The Code Teen program for current 9th-12th graders gives participants better insight and hands-on activities regarding healthcare career paths.  Applications are now available from your school counselor.  Students who participated last year or in year's past must also re-apply if they want to participate again this summer.  The curriculum will be much the same as last summer as well.  Applications are due back to the school counselor by Thursday, March 25th.

           

*SOPHOMORES ONLY: The SATELLITE (Science and Technology Enriching Lifelong Leadership In Tomorrow's Endeavors) program at NC State University offers an action-packed five-day educational retreat to selected sophomores from North Carolina.  This year it will take place from Saturday, May 15th-Wednesday, May 19th.  The cost to students is $25 plus transportation to and from the program.  Paper applications are available in Mrs. Bells office   Applications must be postmarked by March 12th, 2010.
