Dear Parents:
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. We are looking
forward to an exciting and successful year. This year Elizabeth School will
implement the PBS (Positive Behavior Support) program. PBS is a school-wide
program that fosters positive behaviors in our students. Because our school
mascot is the panther, we have adopted the slogan, “PAWS for Good Behavior.”
This slogan helps us outline the positive behaviors that will support a
positive and safe learning environment.
When we “PAWS for Good Behavior” we say:
Today I will
Play it Safe
Accept
Responsibility because
Winners
always learn and
Show
respect
We will teach your children the expectations that
explain what it means to play it safe, accept responsibility because winners
always learn and show respect. Students will learn more about how to “PAWS for
good behavior” through classroom lessons, modeling and practice. In addition,
PAWS posters will be placed around the school building. Students will receive
tickets as a reward for displaying the outlined behaviors. Each grade level
will determine how their students will use their tickets as rewards. Each class
will also have the opportunity to earn PAWS for classroom rewards.
As you meet with your child’s teacher, you will learn
more about how your child is expected to “PAWS for Good Behavior”. We encourage
you to review our school’s expectations with your child. At Elizabeth School,
we are dedicated to creating a positive and safe learning environment for all
students and we value your continued dedication and support. Together we can
make a difference!
We PAWS for good behavior!
