Our mission, along with the Burns Middle School community, is to promote a variety of successful educational experiences in a positive, motivating environment to support the on-going educational development of our youth.

Recognizing the unique transitional character of the middle grade student, the Burns Middle School Community will strive to promote a variety of successful educational experiences in a positive, motivating environment to support the ongoing educational development of its youth.

In 1976, Burns Junior High (grades 7-9) was established, then in 1990, the Cleveland County School System was reorganized and Burns Junior became a middle school (grades 6-8).

BMS presently serves approximately 930 students and features 50 classrooms, a chorus and a band room, a complete gymnasium facility, a theater, eight computer labs, and a large commons area.

BMS strives to offer students a balanced quality education and many opprotunities to experience the arts, sports and other cultural experiences.
