
The Burns Middle School Lady Eagles soccer team defeated the undefeated RS Central Middle School 4-3 Monday to win the Tri-County Conference Championship. RS scored the first goal of the game and were able to hold the Lady Eagles scoreless through half time. RS came into the second half and scored another goal on a corner kick. Burns quickly rebounded on a break away by Josie Rikard to put the score at 2-1. Burns quickly regained possession of the ball and Ashley Boling scored on a forty yard indirect kick tying the game at two goals apiece. RS once again scored on a corner kick and regained the lead. Boling scored again tying the game back up at 3-3. With around five minutes left in the game Boling pulled off a hat trick and Burns took the lead at 4-3. The Lady Eagles were able to hold off RS for the win. Great defensive play by Alisa McConnell, Savannah Honeycutt, Keily Bridges, Abigale Patten and Kelsey Gingles. Cassie Waters was in the goal for the win. Burns finished the season with a record of 10-1.
