Over 700 elementary students in Cleveland County participated Saturday, April 12, in the third annual Cleveland County Schools Fun Run. Rain and lightning cut short the half mile event for grades 3, 4 and 5. The event sponsored by the elementary P.E. teachers, the Cleveland County Family YMCA and Communities in Schools was held in Blanton Stadium on the campus of Shelby High School. Jefferson School received an award for having the highest percentage of students participating in the Fun Run. The first event of the day was the 2 mile run followed by the half mile run. The half mile run was cancelled for Grades 3, 4 and 5 because of lightning.
