Elementary Battle of the Books – Day 2 Results

The second day of Elementary Battle of the Books unveiled a new group of talented readers who came together at CCS Central Services to put their knowledge to the test.

Team results from Day 2 are as follows:

~ 1st Place: Casar Elementary
~ 2nd Place: Boiling Springs Elementary
~ 3rd Place: Springmore Elementary

This year, a special award named in honor of Dr. Ruth Pace was given to an individual from each team – selected by peers – to the team member most knowledgeable about all of the books.

The 2018 Dr. Ruth Pace Award Winners from Day 2 are:
  • Samuel Ford of Boiling Springs Elementary
  • Pablo Garcia of Casar Elementary
  • Mackenzie Pendleton of Fallston Elementary
  • Seraphina Shutt of Kings Mountain Intermediate
  • Damon Cook of Shelby Intermediate
  • Alex Espinosa Paz of Springmore Elementary
  • Alexus Poe of Township Three Elementary
  • Serenity Hoyle of Union Elementary
  • Christian Chambers of Washington Elementary

About Dr. Ruth Pace
Dr. Pace has been working with Battle of the Books in Cleveland County since its introduction to middle schools students in 1992. She has coached teams, moderated many local and regional competitions, and written hundreds of practice questions for every book on the middle and elementary school reading lists.
