Crest High Receives Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant

posted May 22, 2015, 5:40 AM by Alexis Allen
Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has granted Crest High a 2015 Toolbox for Education gift of $5,000. These grants are reserved for school improvement projects that help provide educational experiences for students. The school will use the money to offer an extended learning space outdoors.

Crest High plans to renovate their courtyard and media center to include learning labs, reading areas, and an outdoor stage. Reading areas will have weather-proof tables, chairs, and umbrellas for all students to use and enjoy. The outdoor stage will be built by the school’s carpentry students and used for a variety of purposes. The courtyard will feature raised gardens that the FFA (Future Farmers of America) program will help to incorporate into other cross-curricular programs such as Foods and Nursing. Welding students will add the final touches to the outdoor area by creating sculptures for ambient decor.
