For years, top academic seniors of Cleveland County have received scholarship awards for having a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher. This year, over 300 students within the county’s five high schools were granted a $500 A. Mickey Church Scholarship from the Cleveland County Schools Educational Foundation, amounting to a total of over $150,000 in rewarded scholarship money.

The 12th Annual Senior Scholars Banquets were held at the LeGrand Center on May 2nd and May 5th. Parents, donors, presenters and staff members from throughout the county gathered to congratulate recipients.

The Turner Trucking Co. Academic Awards Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Foundation last October at the River Bend YMCA Golf Club, kicked off fundraising for the scholarship money presented. Many of the tournament’s benefactors and patron sponsors attended the banquet and presented scholarships to the senior recipients.
