| Scholarships valued at thousands of dollars are awarded every year to seniors by the Foundation. Proceeds from an annual golf tournament provide the A. Mickey Church Scholarships awarded to outstanding Burns, Crest, Kings Mountain and Shelby high school seniors at the Academic Honors Banquet each spring. Church Scholarships are presented to the senior with the highest grade point average on the golf teams at both schools. The Foundation also serves as custodian for numerous scholarships sponsored by organizations, individuals and families. These awards are sponsored by or given in memory or honor of E.C. Hoover, Brooks & Vernie Piercy, E.B. Clayton, Nancy Carolyn Rose, the NCAE, Carl DeBrew, Debbie Harris (FCA), Tommy Neal, Polkville Ruritan Club, Boyd Cabiness, Jonathan Peeler, Stein Services, Ed Peeler, Johnny Hoey, Evelyn Cumberland and Sam Jenkins.
