CCS Substitute Teacher Information



 Substitute teaching is a great way to give back to our community, and everyone is welcome to apply.  Cleveland County Schools hires Substitute Teachers every other month in February, April, June, August, October and December. Applications are accepted daily Monday – Friday in the Human Resources office, which is located at Central Services at 400 West Marion Street, Shelby, NC. Please note:  if you have retired from CCS and wish to apply, there is a 6-month waiting period before any paperwork can be accepted.  

 

 

Important Notes:

The complete Substitute Teacher application can be found online and printed by clicking the "Substitute Packet & Forms" link located under the Employment heading found at the bottom of this page. Physical copies are also available in the Human Resources offices at CCS Central Services, which is located at 400 West Marion Street in Shelby, NC. 


Please know that in order to be considered for employment, the Substitute Teacher application must be entirely completed, including all necessary forms, and delivered in person to Human Resources Specialist Tabitha Green at CCS Central Services. Ms. Green’s office is located on the third floor in office 301B. Substitute Teacher application packets will only be accepted in person.  Please do not mail applications or take applications to school locations.

Therefore, effective January 5, 2015, all substitutes and interims will be required to clock in and out in TimeKeeper. This measure will allow us to accurately record and monitor hours worked. Please note this change will not affect how substitutes are paid. Substitutes will continue to be paid for half or full days of work.
