SHS Students Receive AP Scholar Awards for Outstanding Achievement

Twenty-eight Shelby High School students have been named as recipients of AP Scholar Awards for their outstanding performances on Advanced Placement courses and exams during 2007-2008.

The AP Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams. Students receive award certificates, and the achievement is acknowledged on reports sent to colleges.

 Listed below are the Award levels and the junior and senior recipients from last year:

1.  AP Scholars (53 students who received grades 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams)

  • William Blanton, Lauren Burton, Sophia Horsley, William Hutchison, Morgan Koder, Anna Langley, Kaman Lau, Morgan Ledbetter, Jessica Lee, Ralph Meekins, Alexa Miller, Ryan Poage, Chavis Sims, Gina Stachowicz, Niva Tanyi, Eric Wehmueller

2.  AP Scholars with Honor (11 students who received an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four more of these exams)

  • Erik Anderson, Drexel Bakker, Seth Barkley, Ian Rogers, Daniel Wall, Lyndsey Washburn

3. AP Scholars with Distinction (14 students who received an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams)

  • Celeste Burkhardt, Michelle Gassman, Stephen Morgan, Lillian Wilson, Natasha Zuniga
  1. National AP Scholar (one student who received an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.)
    • Lillian Wilson, a 2008 graduate of Shelby High School.
