KINDERGARTEN

This year in art:

The kindergarteners will learn about and use the art elements. The students will be introduced to a variety of materials and will get to expore their own creativity.

This month:

"Rainbow Fish" - the students will use color and line to create a fish.

"Patterned Snake Collage" - the students will use different lines filled with patterns to create a long snake.

FIRST GRADE

This year in art:

The first graders will use the art elements (color, line, shape, space, texture) to create drawings, paintings and 3-D artwork. They will study artist's work and learn art vocabulary.

This month:

"Rip and Stick Collage Fish" - students will use line and shape, understand collage design.

SECOND GRADE

This year in art:

The second graders will create many exciting projects using oil pastels, markers, colored pencils and paint.

This month:

"Calico Hermit and Sand Crabs" - students will use line and pattern in their drawings.

"Kente Cloth Turtle" - explore African style of art in their designs.

THIRD GRADE

This year in art:

The third graders will create artwork inspired by famous artists, as well as using the art elements and principles of designs.

This month:

"Sealife: Sea turtles, Octapus drawings - students will use line, shape and color in their drawings.

"Crazy Creature - Lizard" - students will explore many types of lines and patterns.

FOURTH GRADE

This year in art:

The fourth graders will use the art elements and principles of design to create wonderful and interesting artwork. Students will learn about famous artists, perspective drawing, shading and paint mixing (color theory).

This Month:

"Sealife: Sharks, Dolphins and Whales" drawings - students will explore drawing/shading.

"African 3-D Mask" - students will create a 3-D mask using a variety of materials.
